Director of Programmes

Choose Love

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000

Location: London, with hybrid working, some international travel

Hours: Full-time

Closing Date: 8 June 2026

Choose Love is at the forefront of driving impactful change for refugees and displaced communities worldwide.

We are seeking a strategic, collaborative and visionary Director of Programmes to lead our high-performing global programmes team and shape the future of our trust-based, partner-led grant making. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role in an ambitious, fast-moving organisation working at the intersection of humanitarian response, communications and fundraising.

As a member of the senior leadership team, you will drive an agile and globally connected programmes strategy that enables Choose Love to respond rapidly and effectively to humanitarian emergencies, while also supporting transitions into more protracted crises through impactful community-led approaches. You will ensure our programmes remain innovative, responsive and accountable to the communities and grassroots partners we exist to support.

Working closely across the organisation, from communications and partnerships to fundraising, finance and risk, you will build strong collaboration and alignment, ensuring programme insight and storytelling are at the heart of Choose Love’s work. You will also work closely with Trustees and external stakeholders to strengthen governance, influence sector conversations and maximise impact.

Overseeing partner selection, funding flows and grant-making processes, you will ensure funding reaches communities in ways that are timely, flexible, transparent and rooted in trust. You will thrive in complexity, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on decision making in rapidly changing humanitarian contexts.

You bring significant senior leadership experience within the humanitarian sector, alongside deep knowledge of forced displacement, grant-making and community-led approaches. Entrepreneurial, solutions-focused and highly adaptable, you are energised by ambiguity and able to lead confidently at pace while bringing people together across teams, regions and disciplines.

You are also a strong relationship builder and communicator who understands the power of integrating programmes, fundraising and storytelling to drive meaningful change. Above all, you are deeply committed to Choose Love’s values and to centring the voices, expertise and leadership of displaced people in everything you do.

If you share our vision of a world that chooses love and justice for everyone - where displaced communities can thrive - we would love to hear from you.
